March 08 Barca, Juve and Villa advanceA moment of magic by Ronaldinho handed
Barcelona a well-deserved place in the Champions League quarter-finals
after they drew 1-1 with Chelsea in their last 16 second leg match and
a 3-2 victory on aggregate. Juventus midfielder Emerson's 88th minute goal that gave the Italians a narrow away goals win over Werder Bremen and took La Vecchia Signora into the Champions League quarter-finals. With just two-minutes to go Werder were going through 4-3 on aggregate. That was until Tim Wiese spilled the ball and gifted the tie to Juve. Prior to that mistake Wiese had turned in a superb display. You've got to feel sorry for him. Villarreal reached the quarters at Rangers' expense but were run close by the Scots who took the lead at the Madrigal; but Arruabarrena levelled the tie at 3-3 which was enough to take the Spaniards through on away goals. Let's not forget Rangers became the first Scottish club to reach the knockout phase of the Champions League. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As for my predications, well let's see: Got the Barca v Chelsea match dead on - shocker. Predicated a tie for the Juve v Werder Bremen game with Werder Bremen advancing. Didn't quite work out that way. Villarreal v Rangers, predicated Villa to win, and one goal was all they needed instead of my predicated 2. Not bad. We'll see how today's works out.
